Meet Brian Mallynn

Meet Brian Mallynn! Brian serves as BPC’s Western Regional Supervisor and is responsible for overseeing 10 inspectors. Brian has been with us since 2013 and we had the pleasure of learning more about him with this Q&A.

BPC: How do you help as Western Regional Supervisor?

Brian: I was always taught that leaders work best when they remove roadblocks and extra steps versus adding them. I do this through improving efficiency in setup, scheduling, inspecting, reporting, and communicating with customers.

BPC: What kind of objects are you typically inspecting?

Brian: While I am licensed to inspect both boilers and pressure vessels in eight states, I primarily inspect in Texas, a boiler-only state. My team and I inspect a lot of petrochemical plants, sawmills, hospitals, and large manufacturing facilities, with some surgery centers and schools thrown in for good measure.

BPC: What are some interesting things you’ve seen on the job?

Brian: With such a broad range of customers, I’ve seen a lot of interesting things. Military bombs, missiles, and rockets, Gamma Knife treatment, the Human Genome Project, and NASA are just a few.

BPC: What do you enjoy most about working here?

Brian: Every day is like the TV show How It’s Made and this keeps me happy in my work. I also appreciate the ability to schedule directly with our customers as this makes family time possible.

BPC: What do you think sets BPC apart from your competitors?

Brian: Inspectors with BPC help customers navigate the gray area between boiler laws and safety as well as meet customer’s goals for reliability and peak efficiency.

BPC: Since joining BPC, how has your life changed?

Brian: Less than six months after coming on with BPC in January of 2013, my mother passed away. A year later, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Both situations were difficult, especially with two preschool aged children at the time, but the BPC staff, other inspectors, and compassionate customers allowed me to work the hours I needed to keep my family afloat.

BPC: What do you like to do outside of work?

Brian: I spend the majority of my time off with my kids, Evan (9) and Emma (7), and my wife of 16 years (this June).  I also take care of my dad’s 350-acre cattle ranch (we have over 100 head of cattle) and all the equipment to maintain it.

Thank you, Brian for providing help and leadership to our team. We appreciate you!
